Homemade Cat Treat Recipe? Don't kill your cat with kindness please!
The best homemade cat treat recipe is probably the one you never make! Why do I say this? Yes I would love to make homemade cat treats but what are you going to use for the ingredients? Most cat treat recipes I have researched have carbs and vegetables in them. Cats should only eat meat, their natural diet being mostly small animals and they eat most of these animals not just the flesh. Remember also that the meat they eat is raw, I have yet to discover my cats in the kitchen popping the odd mouse into the oven, thankfully! Making cat treat recipes by baking cat treats is not feeding a natural diet. Sorry for being a kill joy but we all want a cat treat to be just that, a treat not something that is harmful! For more about the risks of feeding the wrong food to your cat please help your Siamese cats or any cats you love by visiting homemade cat food or review the Diabetic cat food page. So how can we give our cats a special healthy treat if we should not bake the treat or add anything other than meat and the other parts of the animal? The messy option is small cubes of uncooked meat, or fish. Take the usual precauctions by washing your hands and all surfaces that the raw meat touches. Just like us a treat should be small and not enjoyed too often! Why should this be an infrequent treat? Raw flesh is good for your cats but it is missing all the nutrients that wild prey contain, that is the skin, fur, feathers, bones and internal organs. Don't fancy the mess of feeding a raw treat, then try out freeze dried meat cat treats. Although it is possible to do your own freeze drying at home it is not easy and you might not do the job as safely as a big factory can. Before you buy freeze dried cat treats check out the ingredients because anything other than meat is not healthy for your cat. Still want a homemade cat treat recipe that is both homemade, healthy and not messy? I can't guarantee that all cats will love them but many will. Dehydrating ( or drying) your meat (or fish) for your cats will produce something like meat jerky but without the added flavors and seasoning of course! The process of drying can intensify the taste just like fruit that has been dried. If you dehydrate your own you will know that the meat is of good quality and as a bonus the meat will keep longer and not be messy. If you decide to buy treats that are not homemade cat treats please read the small print, don't put your cats health at risk. On a recent visit to a good pet shop recently I only found one commercial cat treat product that contained only meat.
