I have a Siamese breeding with a Balinese what is the breed called?
My Answer:
Dear Therese,
The Balinese is a Siamese but with long fur. In the past a few long haired kittens were born from Siamese to Siamese mating. Unfortunately these kittens were not appreciated and were given away as pets or worse! Some Siamese breeders (before genetics and inheritance were common knowledge) thought that these long haired kittens were a mistake and devalued the purity of their Siamese cat lines. In fact they occur naturally among native Siamese cats.
I would expect you might have both long haired and short hairs in your litter.
Depending on the breed club it is likely that the resulting kittens will not be able to be registered though, assuming that the parents have been registered.
I would describe your short haired kittens as 'Siamese' and your long hairs as 'Balinese', if you sell any they should not be sold as pure breeds, just great pet cats with looks to die for!

You will have some beautiful kittens with great characters to enjoy if all goes well, and I would love to see your photos!
