A boy or a girl?? I can't decide!

Hi, I've finally decided to get a Siamese cat, I've wanted one forever, but now I can't decide whether to get a male or a female. Everyone has their opinion so really which one is the best to get? Thanks a lot!
My answer:
Whether you buy a male or female or one of each please make sure you get them sterilized as soon as your vet allows. Siamese cats mature early and early mating could be life-threatening to a young cat. Remember a brother and sister will mate! The resulting Siamese kittens might have genetic and serious health problems.
Now lets decide - boy or girl? A boy cat will grow into a bigger cat and usually weigh more. My Cumin, although a small Siamese male, is a very solid and muscly cat. When he lands on me, especially at night, his dainty feet make a real impression!
Character is less clear. As a huge generalization I would say that male cats can be more dominant, sometimes a little lazy but often more stable and emotionally reliable. Before you all write to tell me about your laid back, dominant and level-headed female Siamese, remember - I said huge generalization, so there are plenty of exceptions.
Ask for your breeder's help. If you need a strong, self-assurred kitten (because it will have to stand up for itself if you have other cats or a young family) then don't choose a shy fearful kitten, boy or girl.
Choosing becomes much less of a lottery if you're taking in an older cat, perhaps a rescue Siamese, because its character is easier to see and the rescue might know what the cat can cope with and what it can't.
So, more important than its sex is choosing the kitten that will best fit into your family. Have a lovely time with your new cat, lucky you!
